Bug? Newly Converted Opportunity Only Added To Kanban Column If it is Empty Column

When I convert a lead to an opportunity then go to opportunities (kanban view) - the newly created opportunity is not visible in the relevant kanban column. The only instance in which it is added, is if the kanban column is empty.

I don't think it's a bug.

Maybe something I was doing wrong? I had custom stages ... I reset stages back to default and started again creating custom stages and it seems to be OK now ..
