I have opened an issue on github.
Documents are not correctly reported for a portal user. Documents are only retrieved when portal user = creator of document even if assigned_user_id = portal user id

Assigned user is not taken into account in Portal. By design.

how do you assign documents to a portal user then, that only him can read ?

Via contacts or accounts relatinship. Both documents and portal users have contacts and accounts.

ok ! I got it....Needed to add the Is there as well a way to unlist folders fo which no contents for the user are available ?

I added some photos for next people who could face the same problem

There is no way to hide empty folders. It works for Knowledge Base. I will replicate the same for documents.

Actually empty folders are not listed for portal users unless a portal user has an access to create folders or documents.
