  • Incorrect sender name in emails in version 5.3.0 - Urgent help needed!

    Hi,

    Since the upgrade to version 5.3.0, we discovered the administrator name is inserted in the sender name instead of the sender's own name. However the sender's email address appears to be correct. Very confused as we have checked all the setup required and could not find any errors. Under, the previous version, everything appears to work fine. I have attached all the screen caps.

    Please help urgently as our customer relationship is affected.

    Hello,

    There were no any changes in email sending functionality in the last updates.

    Check email origin header, what sender name is actually sent.

      Hi,

      After some rigorous testing we found that the problem still occurs in version 5.3.0. We upgraded from 5.2.5 to 5.3.0. However when added the Personal Email details for SMTP in the user's preference section it works fine. When retested on version 5.2.5 the problem does not exist. It appears to be a bug in version 5.3.0.

      Please investigate.

        Could not reproduce. Sender name is correct w/o SMTP set up in preferences.

        Check email origin header, what sender name is actually sent.

        Check whether you have the same email address is used by other user.

          Checked the header and found that sender name is missing. Each user has their own email addresses.
