Show Alerts in Stream Dashlet or Dashlet to display Alerts?

Is it possible to show Alerts in Stream Dashlet or create a Dashlet to display Alerts? While the Alert Icon is always available, I find it too indiscreet to catch my attention... especially when viewing on a mobile device as the Alert Icon gets hidden in the menu system. Having a Dashlet that shows the last 10 Alerts could be very useful.
