Integration with 3CX PBX

Unfortunately, 3CX is not supported by VoIP integration extension.

Is this because of a technical limitation or just because of a lack of demand / resources? I'm wondering if it would be possible to create an extension / tweak the existing one that does this myself or if this has been tried and found not to be possible.
