I've built a small free tool for reviewing a contact CSV before using EspoCRM's native importer.
Select a fresh Contacts export and your incoming CSV. Optionally add an Accounts export. It shows:
- Contact matches with multiple candidates, including shared email addresses.
- Company names or IDs with multiple candidates or no match in your export.
- Old/new values for first name, last name, email, title and description.
- Blank cells and repeated batch keys that need review.
It runs in your browser, including offline. No account, upload or CRM connection is required. You can save the column mappings and reuse them for the next batch.
Try version 0.1.0:
1. Download the attached demandlens-import-check-0.1.0.zip and extract it.
2. Open demandlens-import-check.html in a desktop browser.
3. Click "Try the sample" to see fictional records with intentional issues.
4. For your own check, select fresh exports, confirm the mappings, and click "Check this batch". The ZIP includes instructions and sample CSVs.
This is a standalone HTML tool, not an Extension Manager installation package. It does not execute imports, generate a cleaned CSV or guarantee the outcome of an import. ID matching and reusable import parameters already exist in EspoCRM; this tool adds a local snapshot comparison before that flow.
Use stable IDs where possible. A missing match is not proof of a new contact, and a unique candidate is not clearance to import. Blanks are flagged for review rather than assumed to clear or preserve data. Custom fields, email aliases, permissions and workflows are outside this preview. UTF-8 CSV only; comma, semicolon or tab; up to 5 MB and 10,000 data rows per file.
The tool has been checked in Chromium with synthetic data, including a second batch using saved mappings. The motivating native import experiments used EspoCRM 10.0.10; that is not a guarantee for every version or configuration. The attached screenshot also uses fictional records.
I'd appreciate feedback here on useful findings, false alarms, and whether the saved mappings work on a second batch. Please share only fictional reproductions, not customer CSVs, credentials or private screenshots. Downloaded reports contain record values, so keep them private.
Free to use for your own or clients' CSV checks under the included preview terms. Independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by EspoCRM.
