I created two custom field extensions.
1. Float Extended (the script from Marcel packed as installable extension)
2. Integer Extended (based on the mentioned script, adapted for integer field, also as installable extension)
The custom fields add the possibility to display any custom unit suffix together with the number and several design options.
You can use these extensions for free.
