Notifications from emails

I've been having a bit of trouble determining which emails generate a notification. I've noticed that emails that have to do with accounts or contacts seem to generate a notification most of the time, however emails from other sources sometimes do, sometimes don't. I was wondering if there is anything that triggers the notification, what causes it to pick up specific emails.

You can configure notifications in Administration > Notifications
